Pr:YLF Lasers

Praseodym is an interesting laser ion with many transitions in the visible. Industry is interested in this material because it can be pumped with blue laser diodes, yielding e.g. green laser emission. Green laser light is not yet available from cheap semiconductor lasers, unlike blue and red laser light. A concept for a green solid state laser that can be mass-produced at low cost is needed for so-called "pico-beamers", small beamers that can be integrated into mobile phones. We are working on such a laser concept based on Pr:YLF.
